Quick Tip: How to Target IE6, IE7, and IE8 Uniquely with 4 Characters | Nettuts+

Two months ago, I, in a video quick tip, demonstrated how to use the underscore and star hacks to target Internet Explorer 6 and 7 in your stylesheets. Cross Browser CSS Transforms – even in IE

The CSS transform property allows developers to rotate, scale, and skew blocks of HTML via CSS. Firefox 3.5+

Safari 3+

Google Chrome

Opera 10.50

Internet Explorer 5.5

The Standards Way

As we all know, a majority of the web browsers implement features in a standardized way, while others don’t (although they are getting better at it). Previously, in the W3C specification CSS Backgrounds and Borders Module Level 3 box-shadow was described, although at the moment, it’s not in there for some things to be discussed further. Anyway, this is how the implementation looks:

10 Useful Web Design and Development Books

I was going to use the adjective essential in the title rather than useful but no one book is essential when it comes to learning web design. There are thousands of online tutorials to help you master the profession and there are dozens if not hundreds of books on all aspects of web-based creativity. Not having access to any one book will stop you from learning your desired skill but some books will greatly assist you in the process. 10 of these such books are below.
